Challenge #4: Forgotten
Title: Burial Erased
Author: Late4F8

The archeologist thrilled at the documents he'd unearthed from GyuMaoh's castle ruins. Now his museum might have explanations for the battle that destroyed the god-like man.
He read the ancient pages written by some doctor, which highlighted a mission sanctioned by gods to stop GyuMaoh - the journey of a priest, and his three demon friends, and a battle of magical scriptures. Doodles of bunnies filled the notes. The archeologist sighed, and placed the notes under a file for artistic history. Obviously, the notes were someone's daydreams. Everyone in Shangri-La knew there were no such things as magic and demons.

My first drabble, and apparently I had the same sort of interpretation of "labor." Hope that's okay.

Challenge: Labor

Gojyo’s face was paler than Hakkai had ever seen it. Which would have made Hakkai laugh if he hadn't been so focused on the tiny bundle in his hands.

“It’s a girl.” He smiled up at Yaone. “A healthy baby girl.”

Yaone’s lower lip quivered. She held out her arms and Hakkai handed her the newborn, getting a little teary himself when Jien knelt down beside her to stroke his daughter’s cheek.

Hakkai went to Gojyo’s side.

“That’s a baby,” Gojyo whispered.

"Yes," Hakkai said.

"My niece."

"Yes."

Gojyo tucked a strand of hair behind his ear. "You're gonna help me spoil her, right? And teach her all the stuff that uncles teach?"

"Absolutely," Hakkai promised, and Gojyo smiled.

i hope no one minds if i repost a drabble from lj's 100_roadtrips. the following is the first drabble i ever wrote, so it's special to me. i hope you enjoy it.

Challenge: Labor

Hakkai took a closer look at the expectant mother. From the fear and confusion on the girl’s face, he saw this was her first child.

Goku asked, “Hakkai, what's going on? Why did she pee on the floor?”

Sanzo hit the monkey. “Idiot.”

Hakkai chuckled. “She didn't pee, Goku; her water broke. She’s going to have a baby.”

Goku was more confused. “Isn't that the same thing?”

The monk hit the monkey a few more times.

Gojyo leaned close to Hakkai. “You know what you’re doing?”

Hakkai gave the kappa his patented smile. “Haven’t a clue.”

Sanzo muttered, “Shit.”

Title: "Where'd I Drop My Pants?"
Word count: 231

Gojyo squinted his eyes against the early morning sun. As he tried to get out of bed, he learned his arm was in some woman’s hold. He carefully extricated himself so as not to wake her.

Memories of the previous night slowly filtered into his mind. Gojyo had made a killing at the gambling house, and this sweet, shy cocktail waitress, lying in the bed, was his good luck charm. He took his time wooing her over the past few weeks and never expected her to accept his advances. She felt like the type that would wait for her wedding night.

Gojyo looked at her. He wanted to remember how the early morning light played on her face and her dark, unbound hair.

Lost in the memory of how her soft, pink lips tasted when he first kissed her, the young girl rolled over and said something in her sleep. Those words shocked him: "I love you, Gojyo."

He stood beside the bed, stunned. Gojyo couldn't believe what he heard. She wasn't the first to say those three little words to him. He knew they really didn't mean anything … until now. Plus she knew his name.

Gojyo never bothered to learn hers.

Fueled by his discomfort, he turned away from the beautiful young girl he had deflowered and scanned the room.

"Damn," Gojyo muttered, "Where’d I drop my pants?"

Challenge: Writer’s Choice - Scars on the Face

“You wanted to see us, Sanzo?” Hakkai asked as he and Gojyo entered the office.

“I need you to ta– .”

Everything stopped when Goku walked in. Goku wore two thick red lines on his left cheek.

Gojyo pinned Goku in a wall. “What is wrong with you?” he roared then stormed out.

Goku looked confused.

“Why are there lines on your face?” Hakkai asked calmly.

“They look cool on Gojyo .”

“Goku, those are scars on his face, a reminder of a bad memory.”

Goku looked lost. “I didn’t know that. I’m sorry.”

Hakkai ruffled his hair. “We know.”

i received a question about the length of a drabble for our community.

she reminded me that lj's 100 roadtrips accepted drabbles that were between 90 words to 110 words and accept "the double drabble" of 200 words. she also told me about other writer communities that drabbles listed as any number under 500 words.

i have talked with feait on this matter, since she is my co-moderator. we have decided that, for our community, we will honor and allow lj's 100 roadtrips drabble word limits and add one more acceptable style to the drabble guidelines:
a drabble is 100 words.

a double drabble is 200 - 300 words.

and a triple drabble is 300 - 400 words.

Please label your drabble a double drabble or triple drabble when you post either of these.

Title: Sore Loser
Challenge: Luck

They reached an inn near midnight and took the only room available: a room with one bed. Once in the room, Hakkai withdrew a pack of cards from Sanzo’s rucksack.

"Highest card gets the bed," Hakkai announced.

Goku drew the 9 of Club; Gojyo the Jack of diamonds; Sanzo the Queen of Hearts; Hakkai the Ace of Spades.

"Hakkai, that’s the third time in a row you got the bed," Gojyo groused. "Did you mark the cards?"

"Idiot!" Sanzo hit Gojyo. "Do you really think Hakkai would do that?"

"No."

"Then quit bitching."

"Wish I had Hakkai’s luck," Gojyo muttered.

Title: Loyalty

He couldn't be with his younger brother. That little snot-nosed kid would only remind him of what he did and how he had failed both the kid and his mother. He didn't want that memory staring at him.

The young prince’s red hair and sullen eyes reminded Dokugakouji of his little brother, but the prince wasn't the kid. The prince looked after his own and treated them well. He had his own code of honor.

All of this bound Dokugakouji to the prince because it was something his wounded heart and pride could understand and cling to as they healed.

Non-Challenge: Because Even Sanzo CANNOT Resist the Cute of Hakuryuu

Once again Sanzo chose to stay in their room. He needed time away from those two idiots and their asinine antics.

He was reading his paper when he heard a chirp. He looked over and saw Hakuryuu lying on Hakkai’s bed. Sanzo forgot he was not alone in the room.

Hakuryuu looked confused.

“They went shopping.”

Hakuryuu nodded his head then chirped again.

Sanzo looked over and saw Hakuryuu staring at him.

“No.”

Hakuryuu flew over to the table besides Sanzo and chirped.

“No.”

Hakuryuu tugged on the newspaper.

“Tch.”

Hakuryuu chirped happily as he curled up in Sanzo’s lap.

"NO!!!!!!!" Goku shouted.

Sanzo, Hakkai, and Gojyo sprang up from their sleep, ready to fight. They all looked around and saw … Goku struggling.

"Shit. Goku’s having a nightmare." Gojyo pulled out a cigarette then lit up.

Goku’s arms and legs began pumping. "You’re not going to get me."

Hakkai commented, "What do you think is chasing him?"

Gojyo chuckled. "Lirin and she’s trying to kiss him."

"Sanzo?"

"Tch."

"Last time was eggrolls," Hakkai thought aloud. "This time I’ll bet meat buns."

"You’re on," Gojyo said.

"This is not happening." Goku stopped running. "No meat bun monster will eat me."

a/n: this takes place shortly after Genjyo Sanzo crowned King Kougaiji

On days Hakkai rode a flying dragon, Hakuryuu preferred Rasetsunyo's shoulder.

As today, when she'd gone to see the building of the new, enlarged Houtou. Everything was plumbing and wiring and civilisation. The labourers even had unions and retirement funds.

She murmured, "I never thought..." She remembered how she'd first seen the Sanzo ikkou. Sanzo cloaked with his sutras' lightning. The Seiten Taisei and Goku balanced together as the Sage. Even Gojyo as he gallantly ushered her over the won battlefield to her son, grown into a king.

"Who'd have thought Hakkai would be the one running everything?"

Hakuryuu chirped.

Title: the rising sun
Challenge: First Impressions

It’ so hot, Goku thought. I can’t remember day that started so hot.

He glared at the golden sunrise for a while then curled into a ball to nap. There was no other way to combat the heat.

When he opened his eyes, he noticed the sun had risen high into the sky. He shielded his eyes and looked towards the horizon again.

He saw something; his heart leapt.

It was a man. As he grew closer, Goku noticed a fiery halo around his head.

He’s shining! Like the Sun. *

The man demanded, “Are you the one calling me?”
